How much do David Gluck's tattoos cost?

David works at an hourly rate of $200, including applicable taxes.

Due to the detailed and custom nature of black and grey realism tattoos, final pricing varies depending on the size, placement, and complexity of each piece. As a general guideline, a full sleeve may take approximately 30–40 hours, while smaller portrait-based tattoos may take 4–5 hours.  Most projects are booked in for full day sittings, depending on the scope.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo at "Off The Porch"?

Minimum age is 18 with no exceptions.

What type of payments do you accept?

We are currently set up for cash or etransfer only.

Do you take clients from outside of the Cowichan Valley?

Yes. A large portion of clients travel from Victoria, Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, and surrounding areas to work on custom realism tattoos. Some come as far as Alberta.

What types of tattoos do you specialize in?

David specializes in black and grey realism tattoos, which include a wide range subject matter such as portraiture, pets, wildlife, horror, pop-culture, fantasy, and historical themes.  At this juncture, David unfortunately does not take on tattoos outside of realism.

Is your studio walk-in or appointment only and is it ok to come by to see the tattoo shop?

The studio is strictly appointment-only to ensure each client receives a focused and private experience.

Because of this, drop-ins are not accommodated. This helps maintain a calm, professional environment and allows full attention to be given to each tattoo session.

More information on booking can be found in the contact section of the website.

Do realism tattoos age well?

When designed with strong structure, contrast, and composition, realism tattoos can age very well over time.

Each piece is created with long-term readability in mind. David places a strong emphasis on value structure, contrast, and shadow to ensure the tattoo holds up as it heals and ages.

Can you copy a photo?

Yes. David can replicate reference material such as pet portraits, family members, or other meaningful images.

However, each piece is approached with careful consideration of how the image will translate to skin, and adjustments may be made to improve longevity, clarity, and overall composition.

Do you allow the client to design their tattoo using AI?

AI can be a useful tool for communicating general ideas or concepts. However, most AI-generated images are not directly suitable for tattooing and can create unrealistic expectations.

All designs are ultimately refined or reworked to ensure they translate properly to skin and meet the standards required for a successful realism tattoo.

Where are you located?

David works from a private studio in Cowichan Bay, located between Victoria and Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
