David Gluck is a realism tattoo artist based in Cowichan Bay near Duncan on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Working primarily in black and grey, his tattoos draw heavily from a background in classical fine art and a long-standing interest in anatomy, light, and composition. This foundation allows each piece to be approached with the same attention to structure and form found in traditional realist painting.
David specializes in highly detailed custom tattoos including portraiture, wildlife, figurative work, and large-scale compositions. Many of his projects are designed to flow naturally with the body and often develop over multiple sessions. Emphasis is placed on creating tattoos that not only appear striking when first completed, but also maintain clarity and readability as they age.
Because each piece is individually designed, David works primarily by appointment and collaborates closely with clients during the planning process. Reference material, placement, and overall composition are considered carefully so that each tattoo feels intentional and well integrated with the body.
Drawing on years of experience as both a fine artist and tattooer, David approaches tattooing with a strong focus on craftsmanship and longevity. His goal is to create work that carries the visual depth of fine art while remaining durable and well suited to the medium of skin.
David works from his studio on Vancouver Island and welcomes inquiries from clients interested in thoughtful, high quality custom work.
